Background

Betalo was founded in 2012 and has since enabled bill payments and bank transfers via credit and debit cards. The company has developed its own technical platform and established partnerships with several banks. After acquiring new owners in 2022, Betalo has embarked on a renewed growth strategy, aiming for expansion both within Sweden and now into Norway, while also shifting its focus toward the B2B segment.

Betalo’s relatively small team of seven manages daily operations and the ongoing expansion. Michaela Bäucke Kollem, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, oversees marketing, partnerships, sales, and growth initiatives.
– Our customers include both businesses and individuals, ranging from those looking to maximize reward points on their payment cards to small businesses using our services for payroll, bill payments, and taxes.

Solution

To manage growth with a small in-house team, Betalo relies on consultants and external partners in several areas, including the company’s creative production.
– Before discovering Klingit, we primarily worked with freelancers. However, we’ve found that having a comprehensive service where we can access various skill sets as needed is much more efficient. Being highly visible on platforms like social media is crucial for us, so we use Klingit for campaign creation, ad materials, and copywriting.

Michaela Bäucke Kollem notes that the collaboration with Klingit has improved over time.
– There’s always a learning curve when getting to know a new partner and their processes, but over time, our collaboration has become smoother and more efficient. Our project manager understands us and our briefs very well, even when we’re not entirely clear about what we’re looking for. They are excellent at interpreting, advising, and guiding us toward a great final result.

She also sees Klingit’s platform as a major advantage, making the workflow more structured and easy to follow.
– For us, the best approach is to start new projects with a call with our project manager. From there, we collaborate through Klingit’s platform, handling all feedback and follow-ups seamlessly within the system.

Results

What Michaela Bäucke Kollem finds most distinctive about Klingit is the combination of speed, simplicity, and cost-effectiveness. With fluctuating needs, the flexibility to scale up or down over time as requirements change is a significant advantage.
– Klingit is very cost-effective, and we are delighted with the service. We haven’t found anything that matches Klingit’s offering, and we see tremendous long-term value in our partnership. Their services cover a wide range of needs, and we look forward to working together in the future as new challenges arise.
